Cash Pay treatments and services do not require a physician referral for evaluation or treatment. Physical Therapy in North Carolina is direct access, meaning you can start treatment without a formal prescription. 

**Some insurance companies may require an MD order for PT services, therefore, if you intend to submit your PT bill for out of network reimbursement, please verify that they cover “direct access” PT services. You can see how to verify by clicking here.
